When you journey to Pikes Peak with Appleseed Expeditions, you’re not just reaching new heights—you’re diving into a world of wildlife wonders. The mountain is home to an array of fascinating creatures that will leave your students in awe, from the legendary to the elusive!

Ever heard of the jackalope? These mythical creatures, often jokingly called the “antlered rabbit,” have become a quirky symbol of the West. While we can’t promise you'll spot one (they are quite elusive), the search itself adds a bit of magic to your adventure. Who knows? Maybe you’ll get lucky and catch a glimpse!

Speaking of elusive, keep your eyes peeled for the lynx, a mysterious wild cat that roams the highlands of Pikes Peak. Known for its tufted ears and thick coat, the lynx is a rare sight but a thrilling discovery if you’re lucky enough to see one in the wild.

Don’t forget the playful red foxes—they’re often spotted darting through the trees or playfully chasing each other through the underbrush. These cunning creatures are always on the move, adding an extra layer of excitement to your exploration.

And of course, no trip to Pikes Peak is complete without meeting the yellow-bellied marmots. These friendly little critters can be found sunbathing on the rocks or scampering across the meadows. Their curious behavior and distinctive chattering will have your students laughing and marveling at the natural world.

With Appleseed Expeditions, every corner of Pikes Peak becomes an opportunity for discovery. Whether it’s watching wildlife in their natural habitat, learning about local ecosystems, or simply enjoying the beauty of the landscape, this trip will give your students a hands-on experience of nature that they’ll never forget. So pack your curiosity—and don’t forget to keep your eyes on the lookout for these amazing creatures!
